Donation piece

This is the donation piece for the gallery night. the reference i used was from the jumpstart we did one day. I really liked how the colors gave the horse a kind of fantasy and mythical feel. The first time i did this was in my sketchbook and i believe that it was more successful in my sketchbook than when i did it on the watercolor paper. Some of the elements that i used in this piece were color, line, texture and form. I really liked how simple the line work was in this piece . It gave it a simple yet full effect. I think next time, i should do the lines in pen or a soft graphite then have the watercolor to give more value to the black lines.

value project

This was my value project piece. For this piece really wanted to do a simple design that showed the value very clearly. To do this, I did the flowers in graphite using 2H to do the outline and then shading in the pedals with 6B. To emphasize the flowers more, I made a watercolor background. I used all of the colors that I thought would be very girly and flowery. To do the watercolor, I used a lot of water then dabbed in paint from my brush.

Auditorium piece

Reference
Final piece

This was my auditorium 50s piece. I wanted to capture the true essence of the 50s. Whenever I think of the 50s I think of old, retro tv's and new technology. I looked on Pinterest and typed 50s tvs and found the reference picture that is attached. I started off by doing it in my sketchbook in graphite then I finished it off by adding watercolor. When doing my final piece, I started with a light outline in graphite. After this, I added my watercolor. To give the tv more of a realistic look, I added darker and lighter brownish hues. To create the colors of the tv, I used colored pencil. I tried to use very vibrant colors.
