SRQ project

Final piece
Pinterest reference
Description- In this mixed media painting, There is a colorful peacock on a white background. This painting shows a blue body of the peacock and a multitude of flowers as the tail. The peacock also has white neck details. The body of the bird starts more realistic but as you get to the tail, it becomes more surreal.  This painting has many cool colors in the body such as the different hues of blue. In the flower feathers, many vibrant colors were used.

Analysis- This painting depicts color the most. The bright hues catch your eyes attention first. Also in this piece, movement is shown. Strong movement is shown throughout the entire length of the body until the tail. You eyes follow the peacocks head until it reaches the flowers. Rhythm is a strong feature of this piece as well as there is a repeating flower pattern. Texture is a large component in this piece as well. The best point of texture is in the body of the bird. the white speckled details make you want to feel the neck. Also, the values in the neck contributed to the texture. You get a sense of depth from the tints and shades in the neck. Another principal of art in this piece is unity. All the pieces of the painting mend together to create a harmonious piece.

Interpretation- My idea for this piece came from pinterest. I found this image of a peacock that had various colors of paint strokes as the  tails feathers. I really liked how the body of the peacock looked so I kept that part mostly the same. To make this piece my own, however, I used flowers instead of the tails feathers. Also, I liked the acrylic paint in the original piece so I used that for the body and the outlining of the flowers. To make the flowers more interesting, I used watercolor paint to fill them in.

Judgment- I really enjoyed how this painting came out. I think i did a pretty good job creating values and textures in the birds neck. If I could redo this piece, I would probably use different flowers or try them in colored pencils. Also I would add a more interesting background such as a mix of watercolor paint or small flowers.
