In this piece, I wanted to draw an eagle but not just a flat portrait. I drew the background on watercolor paper and used red white and blue. The eagle was made on a separate paper to be cut out and put on the watercolor paper. I want the eagle to stand out a bit so I will make it raised. I wanted to use a full range of values for the eagle, using graphite pencils ranging from H to 8B. I really wanted to use proportion in this piece, keeping the scaling and sizing correct. I wanted to have contrast between light and dark colors, also with the mixed media. This piece is still in progress at the moment. I want to add more details to the birds feathers.
